Content Marketing Trends

Content marketing has turned a number of small and new businesses into highly successful companies. Here are just a few content marketing trends and the small businesses who are proving their success.

Service Everywhere and Anywhere
The top two key goals for content marketing in 2015 were customer loyalty and engagement (coming in each at 88%). Core Power Yoga focused on both of this and, as a result, is the largest yoga chain the U.S. How did they do this? The founder used social media, instead of advertising, to build brand awareness and strong relationships with his customers. Then, he offered his classes online to give more access to people across the country. As a result, locations began popping up across the country. Today, the brand continues to emphasize customer loyalty and engagement on social media.

A Viral Video
A viral video campaign can take over the Internet. DollarShaveClub is one company that has also proven this concept. Not too long ago, no one knew what DollarShaveClub was. Without any employees, hardly any customers, and a marketing budget of just $4,500, they created a video and posted it on YouTube. Almost immediately, the video garnered 9.5 million views, and the brand gained 23,000 Twitter followers and 76,000 Facebook fans. Within two days, they gained 12,000 new customers. Today, DollarShaveClub is a well-known brand, has a team of more than 20 employees, and has raised more than $10.8 million in financing.

Blogging Outreach
Blogging outreach is a great way to get free press. You send a product or sample to popular bloggers and they review it. One example is Good Greens, a line of nutrition bars. The founder, Keith Prabley, didn’t have the budget to contact news outlets or create advertisements, so he reached out to bloggers. Social media mentions and blog reviews of his product helped him increase sales by 50% within four months.

Connecting with a Targeted Audience
Ozone Coffee is an artisan coffee company. In a world of endless coffee brands and Starbucks everywhere, how can a small coffee business stand out? By building a strong relationship with a very specific group of people. Ozone Coffee centered its messaging on social responsibility and its own ethical responsibilities. It then targeted socially conscious people, which embraced the brand and became loyal customers.
