How Making Your Content Shareable

Many People like to read and share content they think others will find useful or make themselves look cool and smart. You only need to look at your Facebook or Twitter feeds and your email inbox full of Fwd:s from your family and friends to confirm that.

Meanwhile, many people are also too lazy and busy, so even if they might want to share your content, they probably won't.
How do you get them from "won't" to "will"?

The problem is, while shareable content might as well be a guaranteed method to increase traffic, there are no guarantees that the created content will become viral. You will never know just how engaging your content really is until it’s out in the wild. That’s not to say you can’t maximize its potential. On the contrary, there are several things you can do to increase the share-ability of your content. That’s the ultimate goal, at least when it comes to increasing traffic.

While creating quality original content is important, making it shareable is just as, if not more, critical when it comes to giving your content legs. The more shareable your content, the more people will read it, the more traffic it will drive, and, in turn, the more leads and customers who will discover your business.

Here are a few essentials for making your content shareable:

Inspire Emotion
People share videos and stories that make them feel something. As Shafqat Islam once said, “connect with your audience through stories people love.” Try to inspire and motivate in your content, whether it’s through powerful music in a video or strong photography.

Share Everywhere
Shareable content starts with you. Once you create a piece of content, share it everywhere you can. Post it on all of your social sites and encourage your friends and family to share. After a week or two, if the piece hasn’t gained much traction, consider sharing it again.

Make Your Content Easy to Like and Share
People don’t like taking unnecessary steps. Make it easy for people to like and share your content. On your blog, have social share buttons, including for email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. In your call-to-action, encourage people to like your post, comment on it, and share it.

Adapt for Mobile Use
If you’re housing your content on your business website or blog, make sure the site is easy to navigate from a mobile device. Today, more people than ever are consuming content on their phones. If they can’t easily share, like, or comment on your content, they’ll move on quickly.

Make it Pretty
Never underestimate the power of aesthetics. A article can garner twice as many shares simply by breaking up the text with headlines and bullets, as well as images, videos, and design elements.
